At the end of my 1 year stART.up sholarship at the Claussen-Simon Foundation, I received funding for my own Graphic Essay Project which would conclude in a public reading. Last friday, this project came to a wonderful end at our scenic reading at the Alabama Cinema in Hamburg. Me and my wonderful team of illustrators, comic artists and musicians presented our current projects, all under the title “Oh my God, you are breaking my immersion”. We talked about digital phenomena like virtual landscapes, liminal spaces, nostalgia, the troian coffee room, a future with selfmade bodies and what it’s like to have your remains on the internet. Lennard Clément added athmospheric sounddesign and Marie Glass presented her song “Glass House” and “Infinity”, which deal with immersion, dissolution and the infinite, which fitted perfectly into our setting.
I was so happy for the cinema to be sold out and all the wonderful feedback we got. Currently there are plans to continue this series! Now I will get back on my graphic essay with the hopes of publishing it sometime soon.
